Day 4 · Building Words: Vowels -า and -ี
Let's practice blending words with -า and -ี.
Today we practice sound-blending — combining a consonant with a vowel to make a meaningful word. Let's start with the vowel -า.
ม + า = มา ("come") — ด + า = ดา (as in ดารา "star") — น + า = นา ("rice field"). Try reading these aloud with Nong Thai.
Now let's try the vowel -ี: ด + ี = ดี ("good") — ม + ี = มี ("to have") — ป + ี = ปี ("year").
Activity: Try blending sounds yourself, using consonants you already know with the vowels -า and -ี — see what words you can make!
